New Cabinet is not only to deal with hotspots, but to pave the way for a long-term growth, says Igor Mazepa

Igor Mazepa, an investment banker, CEO and founder of Concorde Capital investment company, believes that Shmyhal's Cabinet should not only “extinguish fires” during the crisis, but lay the foundation for a long-term economic growth.
“In my opinion, newly appointed Cabinet of Ministers does not seem to have a clear plan or vision, either for the coronavirus crisis or for economic recovery. The Cabinet and the Prime Minister are trying to hold out longer than their predecessors. To this end, they are looking for simple and short-term solutions that can please the President and, preferably, the people”, said Igor Mazepa in his comments for Liga Finance said.
“And what do we see as a result? They have completely forgotten about the critical reforms: no pension reform, no privatisation. Even the medical semi-reform is practically buried. Monopolies continue to dominate many economic sectors”, comments Igor Mazepa.“During a crisis, such a government can extinguish fires in a targeted manner. But it is unlikely to be capable of reviving the economy and paving the way for its long-term growth”, said Igor Mazepa.
