Trump signs budget with USD 300 mln for Ukraine military aid

Trump signs budget with USD 300 mln for Ukraine military aid

23 December 2019

U.S. President Trump signed on Dec. 20 the 2020
military spending budget worth USD 738 bln, including USD 300 mln in military
aid to Ukraine and sanctions imposed on those involved in the Nord Stream 2 and
TurkStream natural gas pipeline projects. “In particular, this gives us the
possibility to receive lethal weapons, coastal defense missile complexes and
anti-ship rockets. We are sincerely thankful to our partners,” said Ukrainian
Defense Ministry Andriy Zahorodniuk in a Dec. 21 Facebook post.

Zenon Zawada: Despite the
hysteria generated by the mass media and globalist think tanks, Trump has
consistently provided military aid to Ukraine, more so than his predecessor.
The globalist institutions are likely to take credit for that, yet Trump has
made a conscious decision to allow the neo-conservative wing of the Republican
Party to handle his foreign policy (much to the frustration of his nationalist
supporters).

This military aid has helped the Ukrainian army
thwart Russian aggression, but by no means become able to launch any
offensives. In its slow pace of pressuring Ukraine, Russia isn’t intimidated by
the military aid that Ukraine is receiving from the U.S., knowing that it has
the ability to defeat Ukraine on this front. However, the ultimate goal of the
Kremlin is to make it appear as though the Ukrainian state imploded on its own,
which is why the pressure will be on Zelensky in 2020 to capitulate in
fulfilling the Minsk Accords.
