Poroshenko concludes U.S. visit today

Poroshenko concludes U.S. visit today

27 September 2018

Ukrainian President
Petro Poroshenko concludes today his four-day working visit to the U.S. His
main accomplishments include meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump and
Polish President Andrzej Duda on Sept. 25, during which they discussed their
opposition to the Nord Stream 2 pipeline. Poroshenko called for a UN
peacekeeping mission in Donbas during a Sept. 25 meeting with high-ranking
peacekeeping officials, while Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said
the next day that no progress was made in these talks.

During his Sept. 26
address to the UN General Assembly, Poroshenko called for the UN to approve a
resolution on upholding human rights in Crimea. He also gave the UN secretary
general a note on the Ukrainian government’s decision not to renew its
friendship agreement with Russia. Poroshenko also met with corporate executives
to discuss investment in Ukraine, his press service reported on Sept. 26.

Zenon Zawada: Poroshenko gained no breakthroughs
from his visit to the U.S. This merely increases the likelihood that an
agreement on a UN peacekeeping in Donbas won’t be achieved, which is our view.
