EU committee votes to extend ban on Crimea investment for a year

EU committee votes to extend ban on Crimea investment for a year

7 June 2017

The EU Committee of Permanent Representatives voted on June 6 to extend for a year a ban on EU investment and business in Crimea, reported that day Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty. The EU Foreign Ministers Council will confirm that decision with a June 19 vote, RFE/RL reported. Renewed sanctions against Russian enterprises and individuals for the aggression in Ukraine are likely to follow, the pravda.com.ua news site reported.

Zenon Zawada: Expect no changes in Western foreign policy towards Russia and sanctions to remain in place for at least another year, but probably longer. U.S. President Trump will not be capable of changing U.S. policy towards Russia for at least another year.
