Fourteen American states will hold caucuses and primaries today to determine the presidential nominees of the Republican and Democrat parties in what is known as “Super Tuesday.” Polls project populist Donald Trump will win most of the elections for the Republican Party while establishment candidate Hillary Clinton will win most of her elections.
Zenon Zawada: The big story on the eve of Super Tuesday is whether two anti-Putin hawks in the Republican Party, Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio, have any chance of remaining competitive against Trump afterwards. Cruz will likely win the key state of Texas, which he represents in the U.S. Senate. But otherwise, Cruz and Rubio have split the conservative electorate between them, giving Trump an enormous advantage. As a result, it’s likely that Trump, who wants to warm up to Russian President Putin, will emerge from today’s elections with a powerful lead.
