Ukraine state inspection finds no infection in exported eggs

Ukraine’s State Veterinary Service found no salmonella in samples of eggs being exported to Israel that were produced at the facilities of Avangardco (AVGR LI, AVINPU), the Service reported on Jan. 20. At the same time, inspectors found this bacteria at one of the laying hen sites producing eggs for export. The Service reported it limited egg supplies from the infected site and localized the infection. The Service also agreed with Ukrainian egg producers to test all batches of eggs for export.

Avangardco started exporting eggs to Israel in 3Q15. The Israeli government banned egg supplies from Ukraine in early January after salmonella was discovered in a bunch.

Alexander Paraschiy: The measures taken by the Service will minimize the risk of infection revealed by international inspectors in the future. This allows us to expect that no egg supplies from Ukraine will be banned by the governments of traditional consumers of Ukrainian eggs, the Middle East countries. At the same time, tougher control over Ukrainian eggs by the state may complicate logistics and increase export costs. All in all, this news brings few positives to Avangadrco.
