As this morning, Russian-terrorist armies are continuing to attack and shoot at the positions of Ukrainians armies, reported on Sept. 30 Dmytro Tymchuk, the director of the Information Resistance news site. Ukrainian forces have endured more than 1,000 such attacks since the Sept. 5 Minsk ceasefire protocol was declared. Some of the most intense current fighting is at the Donetsk airport, where a unit of at least 100 Russian-terrorist forces assaulted Ukrainian positions with tanks this morning.
Ukrainian soldiers fought off two powerful attacks within the last 24 hours by pro-Russian forces firing mortars in their attempts to take control of the Donetsk airport, said on the morning of Sept. 29 Andriy Lysenko, a spokesman for the National Security and Defense Council. During the battle, a tank controlled by the terrorists hit an armored personnel carrier (APC), killing several paratroopers. In response, Ukrainian forces destroyed the tank that hit the APC, as well as two other tanks. Two Tiulpan mortars were destroyed as well as a mortar crew. About 50 pro-Russian separatists were killed in the battle, Lysenko said.
Nine Ukrainian soldiers died defending the Donetsk airport on Sept. 28, reported the Ukrayinska Pravda news site on Sept. 29. Lysenko confirmed that nine soldiers died and 27 were wounded on Sept. 28, but declined to comment on their location.
Zenon Zawada: This is some of the heaviest fighting since the declaration of the ceasefire, whose legitimacy is increasingly under threat. The Russian government claims it can’t control some of the assaults of the pro-Russian forces, which is a bad sign regardless of whether it’s true or not.
