Ukraine CPI declines 0.1% yoy in June

8 July 2013

Ukraine’s consumer prices declined 0.1% yoy (0.0% m/m) in June, according to state statistics released on July 5. Food prices fell 1.8% yoy. At the same time, prices rose for education (+4.0% yoy), healthcare (+1.6% yoy), transportation (+1.4% yoy) and utilities (+0.3% yoy).

Alexander Paraschiy:Deflation is continuing on the back of sliding food prices. The expected robust grain harvest should maintain this trend as we see domestic grain prices starting to slide in view of the anticipated oversupply. Against this backdrop, we are keeping our CPI forecast at 0.8% yoy assuming no boosts in natural gas tariffs till the year end.
