Ukraine repays USD 1 bln in Eurobonds

Ukraine repays USD 1 bln in Eurobonds

13 June 2013

Ukraine repaid on time its ten-year Eurobond issued in 2003, MinFin reported on June 12. It paid USD 1.0 bln in principal and USD 38.3 mln in the last coupon.

Alexander Paraschiy:The payment marked the first time in a year that MinFin made an external debt payment without issuing backing Eurobonds. So far, it is not clear if access to external loans is totally closed to Ukraine or if the MinFin just decided to take a pause. No new placement during the summer months could pose elevated risks for hryvnia stability already this fall.
