Stakhanov Railcar (SVGZ UK) will begin to use the reinforced side frames supplied by Czech firms, SCB Foundry and CKD Kutna Hora, Interfax reported May 28, citing Stakhanov’s press-release. Stakhanov will stop assembling freight railcars containing the 100.00.002-4 model bogie side frames, which have been recently blamed by Russian Federation’s Railway Equipment Industries Union for poor quality (see our news on May 21). Stakhanov said it expects the reinforced side frames will be certified and put into production by its Czech suppliers shortly.
Roman Dmytrenko: It looks like Stakhanov has found a way to withstand this round of an overall battle to oust Ukrainian freight car producers from the Russian market. The amount of sales lost by Stakhanov due to the side frames change will now depend on the ability of Czech producers to certify the reinforced frames in Russia, which in the current circumstances can take a while.
