Russia, Ukraine confirm cheese trade will resume soon

18 April 2012

Ukrainian cheese exports to Russia will resume shortly, according to a joint statement by Rospotrebnadzor head Hennadiy Onischenko and Ukraine’s Economy Minister Petro Poroshenko following a meeting in Moscow yesterday. Exports will be renewed after testing by Rospotrebnadzor and cheese plants amend small deficiencies found during inspections of the plants over the last two weeks.

Yegor Samusenko: While this meeting added little in terms of specific actions to renew exports, it further confirmed that officials of both countries are constructive. We could see the renewal of Ukrainian cheese exports by the end of this month, which is encouraging for Milkiland (MLK PW), our top pick in the consumer sector.
