12 September 2011

Ukraine’s consumer price index will be in the single digits this year, Central Bank Head Sergiy Arbuzov said on Friday in a statement released by the National Bank of Ukraine. Svetlana Rekrut: CPI declined by 1.3% m-o-m in July and 0.4% m-o-m in August. We attribute the drop to seasonal factors related to the new harvest as well as to tough monetary policy. We vie Arbuzov’s statement as a signal monetary policy with remain tight until yearend. We project CPI will not exceed 10% this year.
