Banking system assets decline 0.8% m-o-m in May

Banking system assets decline 0.8% m-o-m in May

10 June 2011

The total assets of Ukrainian banks decreased by 0.8% m-o-m or UAH 8.0 bln in May 2011, but were up 7.1% y-o-y in 5M11, the National bank of Ukraine reported this week on its website. Total liabilities dropped 1.0% m-o-m, while bank capital was up 0.4% m-o-m. Svetlana Rekrut: We attribute May’s negative m-o-m decline in assets to a seasonal effect given the short working month rather than a change in the banking system’s growth trajectory.
