Ukraine plans to abandon grain export quotas and will not implement tariff barriers for grain exports as of July 1, Minister of Agricultural Policy Mykola Prysyazhnyuk said yesterday at a press conference, citing a Cabinet of Ministers decision. The spokesman said future stability of the domestic grain market is now clear for the government thanks to the introduction of forward contracts. Yegor Samusenko: Notably, the no-quotas-no-tariff promises were heard from officials a year ago, but the government quickly changed its mind after the summer drought which undermined harvest yields. We think the risk of export barriers will continue to exist though forwards limit the possible impact.
