Ukraine harvests 34 mln mt of grain (-12% y-o-y) as of September 27

28 September 2010

As of yesterday, Ukraine harvested 34 mln mt of grain (-12% y-o-y), 4.8 mln mt of corn (up 4.4x y-o-y), 4.0 mln mt (+37% y-o-y) of sunflower seeds and 4.1 mln mt of sugar beets (up 2.7x y-o-y). Ruslan Patlavskyy: The harvest update bodes well for our 39.6 mln mt grain harvest forecast (-14% y-o-y), while, we see the impressive y-o-y dynamics for corn, sunseeds and sugar beets as misleading: the abnormally hot summer this year allowed for an earlier-than-usual harvest, which makes the data less comparable on the whole.
