Balance of payments surplus hits USD 1.03 bln in March

Ukraine’s balance of payments in March ran a surplus of USD 1.03 bln, according to preliminary data released by the National Bank of Ukraine this morning, vs. deficits of USD 1.06 in January and USD 648 mln in February. Overall, in 1Q10, the current account deficit amounted to USD 69 mln vs. a deficit of USD 654 mln in 1Q09. The financial account deficit, in turn, shrank 7.6x yoy to USD 604 mln in 1Q10.
