Yanukovych to take presidential oath today

Yanukovych to take presidential oath today

25 February 2010

Viktor Yanukovych will take the presidential oath today in a low-key ceremony to be attended by about 100 foreign delegations. The event will begin at 10:00 am in a special sitting of the Verkhovna Rada where Yanukovych will take the oath and then move to the Presidential Secretariat where he will take command of Ukraine’s armed forces. The event at the Rada will reportedly be broadcast live on the parliament’s official website (http://portal.rada.gov.ua/). Party of Regions representatives said the ceremony will be as low-key as possible to reflect the difficult financial situation and have no parade or fireworks.
