Rada registers law on Land Cadastre

Rada registers law on Land Cadastre

22 February 2010

The Verkhovna Rada registered a draft law on Friday that would setup the framework for a national land cadastre. The bill was co-sponsored by deputies from the Party of Regions, Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc, and Our Ukraine. Daily Kommersant, which reported on the news this morning, said according to its sources, there is a high probability of the law being passed, though the actual formation of the land inventory will be a long process. In mid-January, the Rada overrode a presidential veto to extend the moratorium on the sale of agricultural land until 2012. However, according to provisions of that law, the sale of agricultural land is possible after parliament adopts bills on establishing a land cadastre and land market. The moratorium on land sales has been in effect since 2002.
