IFC ready to finance 1-2 Ukrainian banks

IFC ready to finance 1-2 Ukrainian banks

18 June 2009

The International Finance Corporation could provide financial support to 1-2 small regional Ukrainian banks, Elena Voloshyna, head IFC representative in Kyiv said yesterday, according to Interfax. Voloshyna said that negotiations with one bank were already underway regarding a Tier-II capital injection and loan financing. The IFC’s board is due to consider the project at a meeting on June 22. Voloshyna said the IFC’s total investment into Ukraine this year would likely be less than last year’s USD 335 mln. In May, the IFC announced that it planned to give USD 20 mln in loans to Megabank (MEGA).
