Naftogaz opens talks on reducing consumption with Gazprom

A delegation from Naftogaz of Ukraine arrived in Moscow yesterday to open talks with Gazprom on lowering the agreed upon amount of natural gas deliveries by 20%, to 33 bln m3, in 2009, Kommersant reported today. The original agreement, signed in January, with Gazprom foresaw the provision of 41 bln m3 of natural gas. Naftogaz is also seeking to lower its planned consumption to the same 33 bln m3 in subsequent years.
