Russia's X5 close to absorbing Ukrainian retailer

X5, Russia’s leading retailer by retail turnover, is in talks to acquire 100% of a leading Ukrainian retailer in a share swap deal, Executive Director Leo Khasis said yesterday at a St.Petersburg economic forum. Sources interviewed by Ukrainian daily Ekonomicheskie Izvestia said the two most likely targets of X5 were Velyka Kyshenya and Amstor.
