Nash Kray retail chain set to open 33 new stores in 2009

VolWest, the Lutsk-based investment group that manages Ukraine’s Nash Kray supermarket chain, said yesterday in a press release that it planned to open 33 new stores in 12 regions in Central and Western Ukraine in 2009, Interfax reported. According to the statement, eight of the stores will be managed by VolWest, while 25 will be franchise locations. Nash Kray currently numbers 59 total stores (29 operated by VolWest, 30 franchises). The chain’s retail turnover in 2008 was UAH 473.2 mln, up 67.8% yoy.
