Ukrsibbank seeks UAH 1 bln from NBU to facilitate loan programs

25 February 2009

Ukrsibbank is seeking UAH 1 bln in refinancing support from the National Bank of Ukraine to facilitate the distribution of loans, particularly to agricultural businesses, Sergey Naumov, head of the bank’s credit department, said at a press conference yesterday. Ukrsibbank provided UAH 1.6 bln in loans to agricultural producers in 2008. Head of Ukrsibbank’s supervisory council Jean-Francois Varlet said that the bank is not utilizing the full amount of support available to it from its parent, BNP Paribas. If required, Varlet said the bank could turn to BNP Paribas for more support.
