Ukrainian grocery chain Furshet reported yesterday that it finished 2008 with net income of UAH 191 mln (USD 24.8 mln), vs. a UAH 2.0 mln (USD 260 ths) loss in 2007. The company also said its assets totaled UAH 302 mln (USD 39 mln), up 4.5% yoy. Furshet forecasted its retail trade turnover would rise 5-10% yoy in 2009 to USD 1.26-1.32 bln. As of the Dec. 31, 2008, Furshet had 105 supermarkets in Ukraine and four in Moldova; it plans to open 8-10 new stores in 2009.
