Aggregate assets of the Ukrainian banking system came to UAH 954.1 bln as of February 1, according to the National Bank of Ukraine. The NBU said that term deposits, as a whole in the system, dropped 81.7% yoy to UAH 167.7 bln, while non-term deposits fell 18.3% yoy to UAH 37.5 bln. The aggregate income of the Ukrainian banking system rose 76% yoy to UAH 12.5 bln in January, while banking expenditures increased 72% yoy over the period to UAH 10.0 bln. As of the beginning of 2009, the NBU is no longer releasing aggregate net income figures for banks. As of Feb. 1, 2009, the NBU said 185 banks held operating licenses.
