Kyivstar’s EBITDA grew 12% yoy in 2008

Yesterday Telenor announced FY08 results for Kyivstar GSM. Kyivstar’s 2008 net revenue increased 10% yoy to NOK 13.85 bln (about USD 2.45 bln), EBITDA grew 12% yoy to NOK 8.23 bln (about USD 1.46 bln) and operating profit grew 16% yoy to NOK 6.47 bln (about USD 1.15 bln). The company’s subscriber base decreased 0.3% yoy in 2008, but its average traffic per user rose 16% yoy, and NOK-nominated ARPU increased by 4% yoy. Alexander Paraschiy: The company remains Ukraine’s leading telecom operator by its subscriber base with its 23.5 mln customers (second largest MTS has 18.1 mln, and the third largest Ukrtelecom has 10.1 mln). The company’s EBITDA margin, 59.4% (+1.1 pp yoy), remained the largest among Ukrainian telecommunication companies and all Telenor subsidiaries (Telenor’s consolidated EBITDA margin is 30.2%, -1.4 pp yoy).
