World Bank to increase infrastructure loan from USD 140 mln to USD 400 mln

5 February 2009

The World Bank is likely to raise its loan to Ukraine for the development of urban infrastructure through the reconstruction of housing and communal utilities from USD 140 mln to USD 400 mln, Ukrainian Minister of Housing and Utilities Aleksey Kucherenko said yesterday. According to Kucherenko, this will be possible if Ukraine distributes the remaining third portion of the loan, USD 82.5 mln by the end of the year. Twenty Ukrainian cities are competing to receive a portion of the loan in 2009.
