UkrEximbank Claims Top Spot In S&P And FIA Bank Ratings

A joint study by Standard & Poor’s and the Financial Initiatives Agency, named Ukreximbank as the top Ukrainian bank in terms of transparency and corporate governance. The study looked at 30 of Ukraine’s top banks and judged them in three blocks: Ownership & Corporate Structure, Financial & Operational Information, and Supervisory Board & Management Structure and Processes, in terms of the quality and availability information that could be gathered using the banks’ financial reporting, websites and public information available about their fillings with government regulatory bodies. Nick Piazza:  Several banks with foreign ownership had weaker scores (OTP Bank Ukraine #24, Raiffeisen Bank Aval (BAVL: BUY) #26, ING Bank #27), whereas, the state-run banks Ukreximbank and Kreschatik Bank were at top of the list. Additionally smaller, privately held banks, led by TAS-Kommmerzbank, Bank Forum (FORM: BUY), Bank Pivdenny (BPVD) and Rodovid Bank (RODB) all received relatively high scores.
