Energy company bankruptcy prohibition could be extended by parliament

Daily Kommersant reported this morning that yesterday legislation was registered by the Verkhovna Rada that would extend the prohibition on bankruptcy to electricity generator and distribution companies. The new bill would extend the current deadline of January 1, 2009 to 2011. The legislation was approved by the Rada committee on electricity companies and was submitted to the Rada by MP Mykola Shershun (Lytvyn Bloc).
