Yushchenko Vetoes 2007 Budget

Yushchenko Vetoes 2007 Budget

12 December 2008

The President sent the 2007 Budget back to the Rada for reconsideration. According to Yushchenko, the Rada’s 2007 budget fails to sufficiently raise the minimum wage, lacks social spending and does not allocate enough money for military reforms. Nick Piazza: The Rada will now likely amend the budget so that it is more in line with Yushchenko’s wishes as the MPs will be unable to get the 300 votes necessary to override the President’s veto without the support of Our Ukraine and the Tymoshenko Block, which they are unlikely to get.
