Rada Votes To Take Ukrnafta, Turboatom, and Odessa Portside Off The Privatization List.

Rada Votes To Take Ukrnafta, Turboatom, and Odessa Portside Off The Privatization List.

5 October 2008

Yesterday the Verkhovna Rada voted against allowing the privatization of several state owned enterprises, the most significant of which were Ukrnafta (UNAF: HOLD), Turboatom, which makes turbines for atomic and hydroelectric power plants and Odessa Portside, the country?s second largest producer of ammonia after Stirol (STIR: BUY). At the same session the Rada voted not to remove Kryvorizhstal (KSTL: SELL) from the list of companies to be privatized. Concorde Capital: These moves come as no surprise as the head of the State Property Fund, Valentina Semenyuk, has been lobbying for their removal. Moreover, the proceeds from KSTL?s privatization will more than meet the government?s goal for privatization revenues this year.  However, we believe these companies will be back on the list next year.
