External merchandise trade deficit totals 10.1% of GDP in 7M08

According to the State Statistics Committee, Ukraine’s external merchandise trade deficit totalled USD 11.1 bln (10.1% of GDP) in 7M08, 2.1x higher than the same period of 2007. In January-July, exports of goods grew 46.7% yoy to USD 40.2 bln, while imports rose 57.0% yoy to USD 51.2 bln.
