Auchan To Open Household Goods Hypermarket in Kyiv

Auchan To Open Household Goods Hypermarket in Kyiv

11 September 2008

Auchan, one of the world’s largest retailers, will locate its construction materials and household goods chain Leroy Merlin near the popular shopping area close to the subway station Petrivka, according to daily Kommersant. The hypermarket will be located on the same site as its grocery chain, which is already under construction. The French retailer will probably follow the same strategy of finding a local partner as it used to develop its Ukrainian food retail arm (in that case, Furshet). Auchan was said to be negotiating for part of the network of the “New Line” brand hypermarkets. An Auchan hypermarket is already being developed in Western Ukraine by TKS Management (37W1 GR: BUY).
