Transport Ministry to Buy 173 Passenger Rail Cars in 2007.

7 September 2008

The ministry announced that it had asked the government to earmark $168.5m for the purchases, plus $76.4m to renovate existing passenger rolling stock. Olha Pankiv: The order is likely be received by Kryukivsky Wagon Building (KVBZ), Ukraine’s only producer of passenger rail cars. However, after the recent appointment of a former SCM manager as CEO of the state railway Ukrzaliznytsya, KVBZ risks losing some of its orders for freight carriages, which until recently were directed entirely to KVBZ.
