Yesterday Alexander Rogozin (an advisor for Vice-Prime Minister Andriy Kluyev) was appointed head of the National Energy Regulation Commission (NERC), Igor Gluschenko (CEO of Vostokenergo, and a member of SCM’s energy holding DTEK) was appointed CEO of the National Energy Company of Ukraine (NAK ECU) and Anatoliy Lutsyshyn (CEO of Servis-Invest, a member of DTEK) was appointed director of Energorynok. Alexander Paraschiy: The NERC and NAK ECU are the most powerful organizations in the Ukrainian energy sector: The NERC is an independent regulator, responsible for licenses and tariffs in the gas and electricity sectors. The NAK ECU controls all state-owned companies in the electricity sector. The new appointments are in line with the distribution of power between the President (responsible for international relations and national security) and the Prime Minister, who is responsible for economic sector. Look for the revocation of standardized electricity tariffs throughout Ukraine and preference to be given to DTEK’s companies.
