World Bank Expects Ukraine To Enter WTO By 2006.

22 July 2008

Paul Bermingham, the World Bank’s country director for Ukraine, Belarus, and Moldova, announced that the bank expects Ukraine to enter the World Trade Organization by the end of this year. Concorde Capital: At the beginning of the year the Ukrainian government announced that Ukraine?s entrance into the WTO was one of its priorities for this year. Although Ukraine’s accession to WTO is still in question, the government has achieved significant progress towards achieving its goal. In mid-July the Ukrainian Parliament approved seven out of 14 WTO-facilitating bills proposed by the Cabinet. The remaining bills will be considered by the Parliament when it returns from its summer recess in September. In addition Ukraine still has to sign bilateral agreements on mutual market accession with 14 countries.
