Hewlett-Packard to Start Computer Assembly In Ukraine by End of 2005.

21 July 2008

By moving assembly to Ukraine the company will be able to avoid high import tariffs and lower the final price for consumers. The company says that its marketing research showed that Ukrainian consumers are ready to pay 10-15% more for well-known international brand names, but due to import tariffs, the price of imported computers was 25% higher on average. Concorde Capital: This move will likely weaken the position of local manufacturers, which presently hold ~80% of the local market for PCs and 15% for notebooks.
