Implied prices for Russian gas supplied to Ukraine in return for transit services will remain at the previous level of USD 50 per 1,000 cm, as stipulated by the agreement signed on July 17 by Gazprom and Naftogaz. An additional 5 bln cm of gas which Naftogaz agreed to buy from Rosukrenergo will cost USD 63 per 1,000 cm. Earlier Naftogaz disclosed that the price for gas contracted from another alternative supplier, Trans-Nafta (6 bln cm), would comprise USD 59.5 per 1,000 cm before export duties at the Russian- Ukrainian border. Naftogaz? CEO, Oleksiy Ivchenko said that Ukraine will only buy as much gas as it needs from an alternative supplier, adding there was a possibility that Ukraine will not need to buy gas from alternative suppliers in 2005.
