Misto Bank 50% stake bought by Latvia’s Trasta Komercbanka

15 July 2008

Latvian bank Trasta Komercbanka said yesterday it has bought a 9.0% stake in Ukraine’s Misto Bank and a 100% stake in Rolvenden Standart, a 41.0% shareholder in Misto Bank. Trasta Komercbanka entered the Ukrainian market in 2003, when it opened a representative office in Kyiv. Misto Bank is #83 out of Ukraine’s 176 banks with total assets of USD 175.3 mln as of April 1, according to the National Bank of Ukraine. Since the beginning of the year two Ukrainian banks have been bought by foreign investors: a 100% stake in Pravex Bank was acquired by Italy’s Intesa SanPaolo (the deal was closed in July) and a 90% stake in Astra Bank was bought by Greek’s Alpha Bank (the deal was closed in April).
