Thirty Ukrainian dairy companies inspected for Russian exports

Thirty Ukrainian dairy companies inspected for Russian exports

2 July 2008

Rosselkhoznadzor, the Russian state body on veterinary and vegetable control, began inspecting thirty Ukrainian dairy companies on July 1 that have applied for permits to export their products to Russia, the Ukrainian State Committee of Veterinary Medicine’s press-office said yesterday. Inspections are due to be finished by July 14. Olha Pankiv: Russia applied a ban on Ukrainian dairy exports early in 2006, but has since allowed deliveries of cheese and/or milk powders from 13 Ukrainian companies, including Shostka Milk (SHMK: U/R), Kovelmoloko (KMOL: BUY), Zhytomyr Dairy (ZHMZ: BUY). The ban on butter has been preserved. We expect Russia to remain a net importer of dairy products in the mid to long-term and open up to more Ukrainian dairy producers.
