Cabinet To Sell Stake In Oranta

A state stake of 25% + 1 share in Oranta was among 34 stakes added to the government’s priovatization list. Oranta is Ukraine’s fourth-largest insurer in terms of gross written premiums for 9M05. Viktor Pinchuk’s Interpipe group, through a number of affiliated companies was Oranta’s major shareholder; however, in February 2006 Oranta announced that 45% of its shares were sold to two Cyprus companies, which according to rumor represent a Kazakh business group. It seems likely that those new investors would buy the government’s share.
