Industrial Output Grows 9.9% yoy in May

The State Statistics Committee reported that industrial output was up 9.9% yoy in May. In January-May 2007 industrial output grew 12.1% compared to the same period last year. Alexander Viktorov: The main growth drivers were food (+12.6% yoy), metals (+10.3%) and machine building (+23.9%). In May growth slowed (12.5% in 4M07) due to a high comparison base. In May 2006, the recovery on the world steel markets led industrial output to surge (0.5% in April 2006 to 10.0% in May 2006).
