Inflation Slows To 0.6% In May

6 June 2008

Concorde Capital: Historically CPI rates in May are lower than in the April-January period, except for in 1999 and 2000, which were periods of hyperinflation. Food product prices fell for seasonal reasons, contributing to lower CPI rates. Additionally, relative price stabilization on the oil market facilitated a lower CPI in May. The Economic Ministry forecasts Ukraine will show deflation of 1% in July-August, due to a large corn harvest.
