NATO and European Union officials are considering orders for the An-70, Interfax said on Friday, citing statements from members of the European Congress on Transport Aviation, which was held in Berlin last week. Interfax estimated the market for cargo aircraft (which includes the An-124, An-70, C-17 and A400M) at 900 planes over the next ten years. Inna Perepelytsya: This news is the first indication that EU countries are looking seriously at the An-70, which had been spurred in favor of rival Airbus’ A400M. If the An-70 is chosen, Motor Sich (MSICH: BUY), which supplies engines to the plane, could receive additional sales of USD 150-250 mln over ten years.
