SPF Advances Privatization of Six Oblenergos

SPF Advances Privatization of Six Oblenergos

1 June 2008

The State Property Fund (SPF) has prepared a draft resolution for the Cabinet of Ministers that separates shares in six Oblenergos from the National Energy Company (NC ECU) for privatization. The stakes are: Prykarpatoblenergo (PREN) – 25.02%, Lvivoblenergo (LVON) – 26.98%, Odesaoblenergo (ODEN) – 25.02%, Poltavaoblenergo (POON) – 25%+1, Chernihivoblenergo (CHEON) – 25%+1, and Sumyoblenergo (SOEN) – 15%+1. Alexander Paraschiy: We expect the “Conception on Decreasing the State’s Presence in the Energy Sector” to be adopted soon, after which the next step is the passage of this resolution on privatizing the stakes in these six Oblenergos. Adoption of these resolutions would pave the way for electricity sector privatizations to take place by the end of the year.
