The Rada Opens Its Doors Today

25 May 2008

The new Verkhovna Rada will open its first session today. The new deputies are to be sworn in and President Yushchenko is scheduled to speak. In related news, The Yulia Tymoshenko Block and the Socialists have signed another version of their coalition agreement. Yesterday, Our Ukraine’s headquarters reported that the party had still not seen the latest version of this agreement. Concorde Capital:  Besides all the pomp and show of swearing in the new deputies and opening a new Rada session not much is going to happen today. The factions have until June 25 to form a coalition to elect the new government. Even if some type of coalition document is signed by all three orange parties over the next few weeks look for the parties involved to take most of their allotted time to iron-out the terms of this agreement.
