BYT To Control Over 50% Of Ukraine's Next Government?

BYT To Control Over 50% Of Ukraine's Next Government?

16 May 2008

The Socialist Party’s chief negotiator, Yosyp Vinskiy, said yesterday that the three sides were close to reaching an agreement on the formation of Ukraine’s next government. According to Vinskiy his party had already signed an agreement that would give The Yulia Tymoshenko Block (BYT) roughly 50% of the posts in the new government. Vinskiy said that Tymoshenko had agreed to sign the document today. Later Our Ukraine said that it had yet to receive a copy of the document. Concorde Capital:   We doubt that Our Ukraine will be in any rush to sign this document as it would likely open the door to Tymoshenko returning to the Prime Minister’s seat.  Despite the fact that Our Ukraine has made it clear that they would prefer to work with Regions (without Yanukovich), Tymoshenko’s recent compromises to put her party in more line with the President’s goals for the new government will likely mean that sooner or later Our Ukraine will have to get back in bed with its former “orange” allies.
