Money Supply Rose 8.5% YTD, Monetary Base Up 2.2% in 4M08

Money supply in Ukraine grew 8.5% YTD to UAH 429.9 bln (USD 85.1 bln) in 4M08, whereas monetary base increased 2.2% YTD to USD 145 bln (USD 28.7 bln), according to the National Bank. In April money supply was up 3.3% mom, monetary base gained 6.3% mom. Polina Khomenko: Monetary base increased in April due to robust capital inflow. Money supply growth rate is lower than that of MB due to NBU’s antiinflationary measures, which lead to decline in lending activity.
