EBU Prevents UMC Unfair Marketing

EBU Prevents UMC Unfair Marketing

28 April 2008

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has obligated mobile operator UMC to remove from its advertising materials all references to the international song contest Eurovision-2005. EBU found out that UMC was illegally using Eurovision-2005 symbols in its advertisement campaign. Concorde Capital UMC?s competitor, Kyivstar, likely aided the EBU in uncovering the unfair marketing technique.   Kyivstar, which contributed EUR 1.9 mn to the song contest organizers, has become the official mobile operator of Eurovision-2005, and it is natural that the company opposes its main competitor from also benefiting from the popular song contest.
