Verkhovna Rada Passes WTO Accession Protocol

Verkhovna Rada Passes WTO Accession Protocol

11 April 2008

Yesterday, Ukraine’s parliament ratified the protocol on accession to the World Trade Organization with 411 out of 450 deputies in favor (Communist MPs abstained from the vote), according to the Verkhovna Rada. Passage of the protocol was the last hurdle on Ukraine’s path toward officially joining the WTO. Ukraine is due to become the 152nd member of the WTO in 30 days, on May 11 (see our February 7 report for an analysis of the impact of WTO accession on Ukraine).
